The MLB is composed of 30 teams: 15 teams in the American League (AL) and 15 teams in the National League (NL). Each league is further divided into three divisions: East, Central, and West. Some well-known teams include the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the San Francisco Giants, among others.
- The regular season usually runs from early April to late September, with teams playing 162 games. The post-season, often referred to as the “playoffs,” typically starts in October, culminating in the World Series. The World Series is a best-of-seven championship series between the pennant winners of the American League and National League.
- In addition to the games themselves, Major League Baseball also organizes events like the All-Star Game, where top players from the American League and National League compete, and the Home Run Derby, a contest for the league’s top power hitters.
- The MLB is known for its rich history and has been home to many of baseball’s greatest players, including Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, and many others.
